Juniors Show Potential in Pre-Season

Adelaide Comets 18’s, Reserves and Seniors took to the pitch for the first time yesterday, with all three grades facing State League 1 side White City in pre-season trial matches.

The Under 18’s and Reserves both came away with a win, the 18’s defeating White City 4-2 while the Reserves claimed a 2-1 triumph.

The Senior team found a 4-all draw in their match and Coach Theo Tsiounis, who fielded a team with only a small handful of Senior players, was pleased with the afternoons display.

“We decided that there was no need for our more experienced players to play in this game as we are aware of their strengths and areas of improvement.

“I thought it was a good opportunity to have a look at some players that I was not too familiar with and take a look at a number of younger boys that we have coming through the Club.”

Tsiounis noted that the potential was evident.

“We wanted to see which players were capable of playing Senior football. It was great to see a number of younger boys being able to play comfortably at this level.

“It was pleasing to see the number of younger players coming through the Club. We have some great talent that we will be looking to expose to the Senior set up.”
