Tsiounis Disappointed with Round 13 Draw

Round 13 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League SA found a draw between home side Adelaide United and visitors Adelaide Comets.

United claimed their first goal of the day in the 2nd minute of play and held on to their 1-0 lead in to half time. It wasn’t until the 59th minute when a brilliant goal from youngster Connor Gollan put Comets on the board to tie up the match at 1 a piece.

However, less than 10 minutes later, Ryan Strain was able to put one past Comets’ Keeper Alex Woodlands, handing United the lead once more. A late score in the 89th minute by front-man Andreas Wiens ensured that the result ended at 2-all and the points were shared between both sides.

Coach Theo Tsiounis was unsurprisingly disappointed with the match.

“It was a disappointing performance from the group. We unfortunately dropped points from a game that we really should not have,” he said.

“However, credit also needs to go to Adelaide United. They came in to the game prepared and executed their game plan well. They really should have come away with the 3 points.”

Tsiounis notes that the first goal caused an unsatisfying start to the match, but it was not the only culprit to the score line at the half time break.

“The goal came from an individual mistake, however, we set out expectations and standards that we did not uphold during the game.

“United were able to transition quickly, particularly in the first half and caught us in vulnerable positions.”

Focus now moves to Round 14 against Adelaide Blue Eagles, back home at SA Athletics Stadium.

“Adelaide Blue Eagles are a good team that sit in a position that doesn’t necessarily reflect their quality,” said Tsounis.

“However we need to focus on what we need to do moving into the game.”

Supporting Adelaide Comets this weekend against Adelaide Blue Eagles will also support the National Breast Cancer Foundation as we donate our gate takings to their ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ campaign.
