Tete Yengi

Tete Yengi, born on November 28, 2000, in Adelaide, Australia, is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a striker for Scottish Premiership club Livingston.

Early Life and Junior Career

Yengi began his football journey with the South Australian National Training Centre (SA NTC) before moving to the Croydon Kings in 2015. In 2017, he joined the Adelaide Comets, where he continued his development until 2019. Tete started off in the U18’s coached by DImi Panagis and was a late bloomer in his development. In 2019 Tete made his Senior debut under Kon Antoniou who was giving him opportunities to come on and influence games as a goal scoring attacker. Tete scored in the Semi Final against Metrostars which awarded the club a 4-1 win and the opportunity to play in the Grand Final for the clubs first ever time in the NPL. Yengi then had a standout season in 2020, under Barney Smith where he was a regular starter for the club. 

Professional Career

After his tenure with the Adelaide Comets, Yengi signed a scholarship deal with the Newcastle Jets in December 2020. He made nine appearances during the 2020–21 A-League season.

In September 2021, Yengi moved to England, signing with Ipswich Town. He had loan spells with Finnish club VPS, where he scored seven goals in 27 appearances, and with Northampton Town in England. He later returned to Finland on loan with KuPS.

On January 1, 2024, Yengi signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Scottish Premiership club Livingston.

Personal Life

Tete Yengi is the younger brother of Kusini Yengi, who plays as a forward for Portsmouth.

Apostolos Vasilios Stamatelopoulos

Apostolos Vasilios Stamatelopoulos, born on April 9, 1999, in North Adelaide, Australia, is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a striker for Scottish Premiership club Motherwell and the Australia national team.

Early Life and Junior Career

Apostolos Stametelopoulos, ‘AP’ as he is affectionately known, is a familiar name and face at Adelaide Comets having spent the majority of his footballing years at the club before progressing in to the Adelaide United pathway. A club he holds close to his heart. He progressed through the youth ranks, developing his skills and passion for the game.

The striker began his footballing career with Comets where he continued at the club until Under 13’s. For his Under 14’s season, Apostolos moved to Adelaide City prior to joining the SASI program for Under 15’s and Under 16’s. He then returned to his maiden club, Comets and made his Senior Mens debut in 2015 as a 16 year old. After spending a year and a half around the First team squad, he was signed up by Adelaide United and represented their Youth Team.

Despite a season at Adelaide City and time within the State program, Apostolos is an Adelaide Comets boy at heart.

“I loved everything at Comets, I grew up with most of the boys there,” he said.

“Some of them are still there and some have moved on, players like Peter Kopsaftis, Anthony Bellini, Dimitri Panagis and Harry Keramidas.

“My dad has always been involved with the club and Prez too. There is a family feeling there and that is what I enjoy so much, that is why I went back there after my time at SASI.”

Professional Career

In 2017, Stamatelopoulos signed a two-year scholarship contract with Adelaide United. He made an immediate impact, scoring his first A-League goal in just his fourth senior appearance.

After his stint with Adelaide United, he joined Western United in 2019, followed by a move to the Newcastle Jets in 2021. Seeking international experience, he signed with Greek clubs A.E. Rodos and later PAS Giannina F.C. In 2023, he returned to the Newcastle Jets, where he had an impressive season, scoring 17 goals in 25 appearances.

In July 2024, Stamatelopoulos transferred to Scottish Premiership club Motherwell on a three-year deal, aiming to further his career in Europe.

International Career

Stamatelopoulos (Cap 644) made his debut for the Australia national team on June 11, 2024, in a World Cup qualifier against Palestine, contributing to a 5–0 victory.

Kusini Boja Yengi

Kusini Boja Yengi, born on January 15, 1999, in Adelaide, South Australia, is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a striker for EFL Championship club Portsmouth and the Australia national team.

Youth Career with Adelaide Comets

Kusini began his football journey with Fulham United before signing up with the Adelaide Comets as an U13’s junior player. He spent two years in our junior set up before joining the South Australian National Training Centre (SA NTC) in 2014. In 2015, he joined the Adelaide Comets Senior set up where he played in the U18’s and Reserves teams. Kusini spent three years in our Senior set up before making his senior debut in late 2017. 2018 was a stand out year for the attacker, as he solidified his role in the squad, making a name for himself in the NPL. 

Professional Career

After his time with the Adelaide Comets, Kusini signed with Adelaide United, where he played from 2019 to 2022, making 27 appearances and scoring 6 goals. He then moved to Western Sydney Wanderers for the 2022–2023 season, scoring 4 goals in 18 appearances. In 2023, he joined Portsmouth in the EFL Championship, where he has continued to showcase his talent.

International Career

Kusini (Cap 638) made his debut for the Australia national team in November 2023 during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Bangladesh. Kusini is the first player to represent Australia national team that has come through the Adelaide Comets junior/senior ranks. He scored his first international goal on March 26, 2024, against Lebanon.

Kusini’s younger brother, Tete Yengi, is also a professional footballer, playing as a forward for Livingston FC in Scotland.

Valentino Yuel – Former Adelaide Comets Junior

Valentino Yuel, born on 12 October 1994 in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, is a South Sudanese international footballer who has forged an impressive professional career across Australia, Asia, and the Middle East. He currently represents the South Sudan national team and is widely recognised for his flair, pace, and attacking instinct.

Youth Career with Adelaide Comets

Valentino began his footballing journey after relocating to Adelaide with his family at around ten years of age. Settling into life in South Australia, he quickly fell in love with the game and joined the Adelaide Comets as a junior player.

During his time in the Comets’ youth system, Valentino developed the technical ability, athleticism, and attacking mindset that would later become hallmarks of his game. His rapid progress through the junior ranks led to him earning opportunities at senior level earlier than most, making his senior debut at just 16 years old.

His time with Comets laid the foundation for his future — providing him with strong coaching, competitive opportunities, and a community that supported his growth as a young footballer. 

Senior & Professional Career

After emerging from the Comets junior ranks, Valentino began climbing the NPL SA ladder, gaining valuable experience with several clubs including Cumberland UnitedCampbelltown City, a return to Adelaide Comets in 2017, and Adelaide City. These years built his resilience and sharpened his game as an explosive wide attacker.

In 2019, his strong form in the NPL Victoria with Bentleigh Greens (8 goals in 12 matches) earned him his first A-League contract with Western United, becoming part of their inaugural squad.

Valentino continued to grow professionally with:

  • Aluminium Arak (Iran, 2022–2023)

International Career

Valentino proudly represents the South Sudan national team, making his international debut in January 2022. Since then, he has become a key figure within the squad, offering creativity and attacking spark in World Cup qualifiers, AFCON campaigns, and international friendlies.

For South Sudan, Valentino is not only a footballer — he is a symbol of hope, opportunity, and pride for the South Sudanese community around the world.
